DESCRIPTION OF THE BOARD-FREE BOARD GAME: NORMANDY

 June 1944. After landing in Normandy, the Allies were able to gain a foothold on its shores. You have to lead your troops forward, moving deeper into France and pushing the German troops back. You will face intense resistance, machine gun fire and mortar fire, but a great commander can use any situation to his advantage.

BEFORE THE GAME

 Players choose a scenario and determine the winning conditions. As a rule, you need to capture specific targets or defeat the enemy forces. Then, according to the script, a playing field is formed from the tiles.

 We see hedges, villages, hills and fields where your platoon will fight. There may be bonuses on the tiles that are added to the defense if the squad is attacked in this area. Target markers mark the tiles you need to take control of.

HOW TO PLAY

 You start the game with cards in your deck and stock, as required by the script. Each player draws 4 cards from his deck. Opponents open one card at a time and compare the performance of the initiative. The winner receives a token of initiative, the selected card is discarded.

 Maps are divided into three types: soldiers, commanders and fog of war. The soldier's card shows his type, initiative number, detachment badge, available actions, and the fighter's name. The latter adds to the game of realism. Maps of commanders are marked with stars.

 Units are groups of soldiers represented by tokens and three cards. All unit fighters have one type and detachment badge. The counter has a protection level (3): to damage the unit, the enemy must throw this value on the dice. The striped side of the counter is used to indicate the depressed state of soldiers who can no longer perform operations.

 The fog of war is a breakdown in communication caused by the chaos of battle and complicated by the enemy's deceptive tactics, as well as the dispersal of the detachment over a large area. They can be played during the fight for initiative and thrown out of hand when you need scouts.

 By playing cards, you can intercept the initiative, move units, take control of the most important targets and fire on the enemy. Commander cards, such as platoon sergeant, will provide you with reinforcements, inspiring soldiers to battle. The player can take cards from the reserve and add them to his deck.

 The strongest cards are mortars. With their help, you can "endure" concentrated enemy forces, avoiding any dangers. If you decide to hit the enemy with a mortar, a marker of the sight is placed on the enemy unit. Snipers help to move forward on unexplored terrain. If you have casualties after an enemy attack, the corresponding cards are removed from the deck. When the attack is aimed at suppressing the fighting spirit, the cards do not leave the deck. Instead, the counter unit flips over.
