DESCRIPTION OF THE BOARD GAME PATCHWORK
In the board game Patchwork, we will sew a quilt. Boys, don't rush to think that this is a game for women and grandmothers. Sewing a quilt from scraps will be interesting for everyone. Patchwork is a game that combines logic, spatial thinking and strategy. It is designed for only two players and is a bit like Tetris.
WHERE IS THE NEEDLE AND THREAD?
You won't find a needle or thread in the game box. So get out what you've laid out: two 9x9 quilt bases, a time track, player tokens, and a whole bunch of scraps of completely different shapes. Lay out all the game components as indicated in the rules. Now let's start the game.
According to certain rules, players will take pieces of different shapes from the table and place them on their base. Try to place the pieces so that there are no holes in the blanket. For each hole, you will receive a penalty at the end of the game.
BUTTONS AND TIME
The player with the most time always moves. It is possible for one player to make several moves before reaching their opponent's time limit. On their turn, a player can do one of two things:
- Move your token on the time track to the next cell after your opponent. At the same time, get as many buttons as the number of time sectors it passes.
- Pay for the patch with buttons and place it on your base. Then move your token along the time track, by as many sectors as indicated on the patch.
The game ends when both participants reach the finish line on the time track. By the way, the time track is a two-sided field, which differs on each side only in design. Choose the side you like.
SCORING
It's very simple: we count the number of buttons a player has, add bonus buttons (you can read about them and more in the rules), and subtract penalty points for each hole in the blanket. The player with the most points wins.
WHO IS THE GAME FOR?
This game was invented by the brilliant Uwe Rosenberg, the author of such hits as Agricola, New Moon, New York Zoo, etc. We won't even mention the mediocre games from this author. Definitely recommended for peaceful family evenings.
