DESCRIPTION OF BOARD GAME EL GRANDE 2.0 

 The board game "El Grande" is a recognized classic of territory control, first released back in 1995. The game won a number of major European competitions, including the Spiel des Jahres 1996. To this day, the game is included in the top 100 games of all time according to the website "BoardGameGeek". Edition 2.0 contains both an updated base version of the game and two mini expansions to it.

 The game "El Grande" transports the participants to Spain of the 15th century, divided into many kingdoms, counties and principalities. In each of the regions, aristocrats - the grandees and their loyal caballeros - are trying to seize power. Players are invited to start from one single region and expand their influence throughout the country in conditions of difficult ethnic and social confrontation.

GAME PROCESS

 The game lasts for 9 rounds, and three more rounds are spent counting victory points. The goal of the game is to gain dominance in the various provinces of Spain and Castile. The fight is complicated by moving the king, which does not tolerate changes in the strength of the province it is in, as well as by the selection of action cards each round and the secret choice of provinces to which the opponents' caballeros will go after scoring.

 Each round will consist of several steps:

• Opening action cards . The action cards are divided into 5 separate piles, and each round you will discard the top card from the pile to reveal the next one. The only exception is the fifth stack, which will always have the king card exposed. The face up top cards in the 5 stacks will represent the actions that will be available for selection by the players in that round.
• Draw influence cards. All players secretly choose, and then take turns, starting with the first player, to reveal the chosen cards. The higher the face value of the action card, the earlier the player will choose the action card in the row. But at the same time, be careful, because power cards also allow you to send caballeros from regions to your "court" (an intermediate location from which you can send figures further during this turn): the higher the denomination of the card, the fewer caballeros you can send.
• Player moves. Players take turns depending on the face value of the influence cards played (the player with the lowest face value goes last). During his turn, the player must first move the appropriate number of caballeros to the "court". After that, he chooses an action card and performs its two effects. The first effect will be special for each card: you will be able to move the knight or even the king, veto the actions of other players or directly influence their movements, etc. Remember: the region in which the king figure is located is "frozen" and can only be interacted with by direct instructions in the map text. But the second action will allow you to move a certain number of caballeros from the "court" to neighboring royal provinces. You can display figurines in several provinces of your choice. At the end of the turn, put the played card at the bottom of the corresponding pile: it will no longer be available for selection by other players.
• Completion of the round. Put the players' unused action cards at the bottom of the corresponding pile, and then all players send the influence cards used in that round to their discard pile. These influence cards can no longer be used during the game. The player who played the lowest-denominated influence card this round receives the first player token and must reveal their power card first in the next round.

CALCULATION OF POINTS

• First, the players take the province selection disks and secretly place an arrow on one of them - to which their caballeros will go from Castile. Put the discs of doliface.
• After that, the players raise the Castile tower, pour out their figures from it and receive victory points according to the majority: the first player with the most caballeros gets 5 VP, the next 3 VP, and the third 1 VP.
• Open the vodka discs. All participants move their figures from Castile to secretly chosen provinces.
• Count the points for the provinces - each of them will have a table for counting from the first player figure to the third. You can also get bonus points for the majority in the province with the king and in the regions with your grande (larger than the caballero) figure.

 At the end of the ninth round of scoring, the contestant with the most VP wins.
