DESCRIPTION OF THE BOARD GAME DISTANT SUNS

 An interesting space filler with "pick and draw" mechanics. The board game "Distant Suns" was released in 2022. It was developed by Korean game designers Gary Kim and Yong-Min Jeong. The game was designed by the famous Vincent Dutre.

CHOOSE AND DRAW MISSIONS IN DISTANT SPACE

 "Distant Suns" is a fast-paced, minimalist board game about space exploration. Over three rounds, players will choose pieces (for themselves and their opponents) to draw on their space sheets. They will also fight aliens, upgrade their spaceships, search for treasure, explore black holes, and try to be the first to reach distant worlds at the edge of known space. At the end, the player with the most points wins.

GAME PROCESS

 In each round, players take turns. On their turn, a player takes the top tile from the stack of modules and inserts its two protrusions into two adjacent free slots on either side of the playing field. Each module tile is a connected circle and octagon. The circle indicates which figure the active player will draw, and the octagon determines which figure his opponents will draw.

 All players draw the corresponding shapes on their space sheets. The shape must be drawn adjacent to at least one previously drawn sector. It can be mirrored and in any orientation.

• Distant Worlds. If the player first draws a sector adjacent to a distant world in the corner of the space sheet, he scores 10 or 15 points. Other players score 5 or 8 points if they reach the same distant world.
• Improvement. When a player draws an improvement sector, he gains that improvement. The player can use the improvement during one of his next moves to avoid drawing 1 sector of the selected piece (but the piece cannot be divided).

 The round ends when the last module is taken. Or the taken module has nowhere to be placed, because all paired slots on both sides of the field are occupied.

END OF THE GAME

 The game ends after the third round. Players look at the pairs of mission tiles and research tiles (with figures) on the game board.

 They count and write in the appropriate cells on their sheets:

• Aliens. Number of alien sectors closed by the required figures.
• Improvements. Number of improvements covered by the required shapes.
• Treasures. The number of treasure sectors adjacent to the required figures.
• Group of shapes. The number of shapes needed in the largest group.
• Black hole. The number of required shapes adjacent to the black hole.

 Then the players convert the resulting numbers into victory points according to a special table. They add victory points for the distant worlds they have reached. And bonuses for treasures, if the treasure sector is completely surrounded by figures (10 points for each sector). For each uncovered alien sector, the players lose 5 points.

 The player with the most points wins.
