DESCRIPTION OF THE BOARD GAME WAR OF THE RING

 Today, it is difficult to meet a man who is not familiar in one way or another with the legendary saga of JRR Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings". After all, it all started with a short story about the adventures of the hobbit - in fact, it is worth stepping on the road, and it is unknown where it will take you. For more than half a century, Middle-earth has been the most famous fantasy world, and the cult film trilogy has only added to its popularity. In 2004, the board game War of the Ring was released, no less epic than the book and movie. Eight years later, the second edition was published, and now we are pleased to present you the Ukrainian localization.

 The board game "War of the Ring" recreates the battle of free nations against the forces of Darkness. In a game of two, each will lead one of the parties, three or four participants will have to be divided into two teams. The game consists of about two hundred plastic troops, which means that we are waiting for a truly large-scale battle. Simultaneously with the war, the storyline unfolds: the Brotherhood of the Ring goes to Mordor to destroy the Ring of Almighty in the gorge of Fatal Mountain.

 In addition to the scale of what is happening, a characteristic feature of the "Ring War" is the asymmetric gameplay. The Dark Forces initially have a significant military advantage and the task of capturing Middle-earth: to win they need to take control of the enemy's settlement, bringing 10 victory points. Free nations begin the game with a small army, but to drive out the Darkness they need to capture the settlement, bringing 4 victory points. The second way to win is with the Ring Brotherhood's mission. If Frodo and his allies reach the Fatal Mountain safely, the Ring is destroyed and Sauron is overthrown. But the Brotherhood can be influenced by the Ring, and in that case Darkness wins.

 The game mechanics of the Ring War are built on a mixture of cold calculation and luck. It is based on cubes of action: blue for free peoples and red for the forces of Darkness. Both blue and red sets contain unique "jokers": for free peoples it is the Will of the West that allows you to perform any action or call a character, for Darkness - the Eye that watches the Ring. The combat system also uses dice, but allows you to correct bad values with the help of army leaders, characters and maps.
