Description
DESCRIPTION OF THE BOARD GAME RISING SUN
A mighty shadow covered Fujiyama, plunging Edo into darkness. The gods are displeased with the current emperor of Japan and the general decline. To restore the former honor and revive the traditions of the great country, they create five sacred houses. Each of them will make their way to this great goal according to the will of the gods. And when the snow, like a snow-white kimono, covers the earth, the most worthy will be chosen.
Players will have to transform into shoguns and lead one of the five divine houses: Lotus, Turtle, Carp, Dragonfly and Bonsai. Each house has its own unique property, given by the gods: you will be able to soar over the whole of Japan like a dragonfly, build fortresses on the backs of huge turtles and perform other amazing actions that are inaccessible to ordinary mortals.
EXTENSIVE LANDS
The playing field is a map of Japan divided into 8 regions. Each region corresponds to a reward that the player receives for collecting resources. During the game, wars will break out between regions. Players can see tracks of honor, victory points and politics, as well as sanctuaries and many other amazing things that reflect the current state of the houses.
Each player receives their home screen, 4 fortress tokens and an alliance token. All houses have initial honor scores that will determine turn order. Each house corresponds to 10 miniatures, which are divided into three types: daime, shinto and bushi.
Bushies are infantry devoid of any special properties. The Shinto are the same warriors, but unlike the Busi, they can worship the gods. Basically, these are martial monks. Daime are military leaders. They are immune to capture, betrayal and special effects. In addition to bushi, sinta and daimhe, the gods sent monsters to the land of Japan. They can join players' houses and have special properties.
ON THE ROAD FROM THE TIMES OF THE CITY
The goal of each shogun is to score as many points as possible before winter sets in. There are several ways to earn points. These are glorious victories in battles, and the accumulation of resources, the drawing of virtue cards, etc. In the course of the game, participants will make and break alliances, strengthen their houses, take various political actions, deploy troops and worship gods.
To win the favor of the gods, you have 4 seasons (rounds): spring, summer, autumn, winter. Each round consists of a preparation phase, a tea ceremony, politics, war and the end of the season.
In the preparation phase, players prepare regions for war according to the seasons, lay out maps of the seasons, earn profits depending on the current season, and take money for prisoners. The tea ceremony is a negotiation phase. Players make new alliances, break old ones and apply their consequences. I would like to note that the game is extremely beautiful and thought out to the smallest detail. Thus, when making alliances, union tokens form the "Yin-Yang" symbol.
In the politics phase, players issue political orders that affect houses and troops. Shoguns can place and move figures on the field, buy season cards, get coins, ronin tokens, and lure enemy troops to their side.
After that, the gods give gifts to those who sent Shinto to worship them. You need to be lucky enough to see the radiant face of the sun goddess Amaterasu or the fierce eyes of the war god Hatiman, and reverently accept the divine gifts. The shoguns are protected by seven amazing deities.
In the war phase, houses fight for power over regions. The player with the highest strength scores wins. It is interesting that an experienced military leader is able to use even a defeat to his advantage. In order not to be captured, not to cover yourself and your descendants with shame, you can commit seppuku. Sometimes, to stop rivers of blood, it is enough to take one hostage. If you are close to defeat, then mercenaries (ronins) will help you win. At the end of the battle, all soldiers of the losing side die. Poems are composed in honor of the fallen, which bring their author not only recognition, but also quite earthly benefits. The defeated at home pay reparations.
White snow covers the battlefields, forever hiding the faces of the fallen warriors, the stories about which will be passed from mouth to mouth... The confrontation between the divine houses ends and the counting of points begins. Shoguns receive points for winter reinforcements, warring region tokens, and the number of unique tokens. The player with the most points becomes God's chosen one and leads his country to prosperity.
