It is difficult for the merchant himself to solve all the tasks - this is where subordinates will be needed, who will perform the assigned tasks under reasonable management. In order to become the most successful merchant, it is enough to be one of the first to collect 5 rubies.

PUBLICATION FEATURES

  Istanbul: Big Box is the base game and two expansions in one big box. The Mocha and Bakshish expansion adds 6 new locations with different capabilities and a new character - the coffee merchant. Like the governor and the smuggler, he walks respectfully through the rows of the market, offering everyone to buy an exquisite variety called "mocha".

 Coffee can also be purchased on the appropriate tile. The purchased product is sold in a coffee house. In the tavern you will always be able to find those who will carry out your errand for a bribe (bakshish). In the guild hall, players receive special tiles that give certain advantages. In addition, instead of five rubies, you now need to collect six to win.

 The "Letters and Seals" supplement adds a courier who wanders around the bazaar like a madman, delivering business letters to the appropriate stalls and tents. And the market is huge! Thanks to 4 new cards, the field expands to 20 places. The poor courier is literally inundated with important correspondence, and you, as a decent citizen, can give him courier help by delivering one letter to the right place for a reward. If you want to shorten the path, the catacombs will help. You can also send letters to the embassy. By the way, it is not necessary to deliver them to the addressee. If the letter contains valuable information, it can be sold profitably on the black market.

CITY OF ISTANBUL

 The playing field consists of tiles placed in a square. 20 city locations are served by different city buildings. Players will have to move around the city and visit buildings and institutions. Each visit will allow you to perform one action.

 You will have to move with a cart (wheelbarrow) — this is the player's personal tablet. The wheelbarrow initially has a limited capacity, but this problem is easily solved in the workshop - for a modest fee, you can increase the capacity of your wheelbarrow up to 3 times. Larger capacity means more goods at your disposal; more goods, more opportunities in the shopping districts of Istanbul. And remember, our task is 5 rubies.

MERCHANT AND ASSISTANTS

 It is not good for a merchant to do work that his assistants can easily do. The role of the merchant is to organize the work of his subordinates as efficiently as possible. This very life rule is elegantly transferred to the game mechanics - place the merchant token on the tile with the fountain, and all the assistants under it (a bunch of tokens came out) - from this place your trading campaign for rubies begins.

 You can move the merchant by 1 or 2 tiles. Along with the merchant, all assistants who are under the Merchant token are also moved. If the achieved tile allows you to perform the desired action, it is enough to leave your assistant and perform the action. By sending his assistants to work, the merchant may eventually be left alone - in this case, he will not be able to perform actions in the city until he returns his assistants.

 There are two ways to pick up your subordinates: go to the fountain - all workers return to the merchant; move to the tile with the previously exposed employee, then the helper token is placed under the merchant token and can be used to perform actions in the future.

BEHIND THE RUBIES

 Collecting 5 rubies is your goal. Rubies can be obtained in the Sultan's palace by exchanging them for goods, buying them from a jeweler for lire, or in a mosque.

 The board game "Istanbul" opens up a large space of strategies: only you can decide what your choice will be. In the game, an important point is to plan your moves in such a way as to minimize the movement of the merchant without helpers. The rules offer two options for placing the tiles — the simplified version of the game and the version for experienced players differ. You can create your own city blocks, unlike any you've played before.
