DESCRIPTION OF THE EXPANSION ABYSS: KRAKEN & LEVIATHAN

 The Abyss: Kraken & Leviathan are two expansions bundled into one box for Abyss , an atmospheric set-collecting board game from renowned game designer Bruno Catala.

WHAT DID THE KRAKEN BROUGHT US?

• Krakens . These creatures are a new race of allies. They act as a wild card race that can be played as any other race at the player's discretion. But their use has its dark price.
• Nebulas . Black pearls are additionally an illegal parallel currency of the Abyss. Each such gem at the end of the game will take away influence points from corrupt players. Pearls can be acquired using Kraken allies, and it is very difficult to get rid of them. They can be used only if the player has exhausted the supply of white pearls, and even then it will be possible to get rid of only one nebulis at a time. Or they can be used to pay off the smuggler lords.
• New lords . Smugglers will allow you to use black pearls in a special way, and Wardens will allow you to reserve desired lords, stacks or slots with the appropriate tokens. Only you will be able to use what the guard is guarding.
• New places . The dark cemeteries of dead sea creatures in this expansion will allow you to obtain Loot cards that will bring keys, influence points or new allies, but at the same time these places have their own dangers.

INNOVATION FROM LEVIATHAN

• Martial law . With the declaration of martial law, the number of allies in each player's hand is limited to a dozen, and any surplus allies seem to immediately go to fight the monster. For each ally not dropped in the limit, you will have to pay with pearls, and the kraken allies from the corresponding supplement will have to be left in your hand and sacrifice other cards.
• Battles with Leviathan . Monstrous Leviathans can be discovered while exploring the Deep. You still have the choice to fight the monster right away or to continue exploring, but now when you continue exploring the dice will determine which of the border cells you should place the monster on. Even if a randomly chosen cell is already occupied by another monster, Leviathan will devour the predecessor and take its place. Leviathans can even eat each other, but in that case the previous monster immediately attacks before the player who placed the new giant dies. Fighting Leviathan requires ally cards of a certain race and a dice roll to determine attack power. For exceeding the value of Leviathan's power, the player will receive monster tokens, and for reducing the giant's health marker to zero, he will finally remove it from the field and take it as loot. But be careful: there should always be at least one Leviathan on the borders. If you beat the last one, you need to immediately place a new one.
• New lords . The expansion adds ten new lords. The Rebel immediately drains one health from the chosen Leviathan, and you are rewarded accordingly. Thus, the monster can even be killed. The Border Guard will cause the selected opponent to add a new Leviathan to the border as if they had encountered it during Exploration of the Deep.
• New rules for ending the game . In addition to the rules from the main edition, the game can now end at the player's choice after the Leviathan deck or monster token stacks are depleted.
