DESCRIPTION OF THE BOARD GAME ZONA: THE SECRET OF CHERNOBYL

 Chernobyl has become the basis for many famous works of Ukrainian and world culture. One of the most famous examples is the computer game about the Zone. Andrei Tarkovsky's film "Stalker", based on the works of the Strugatsky brothers, also occupies an important place, and in 2019 the HBO series "Chernobyl" received a great resonance. Polish game designers Krzysztof Glosnicki and Maciej Drewing also addressed this topic, creating a board game dedicated to the Chernobyl Zone.

 Poland's interest in the Chernobyl topic has more than just a gaming background. Until 1936, a significant Polish community lived in Chernobyl. Poles were also among the liquidators of the Chernobyl accident, and Poland was one of the first countries to record the consequences of radioactive contamination after the disaster. Therefore, this topic also has its own historical context for Poles.

 After the Chernobyl accident, the Soviet authorities set up secret laboratories in the Zone. Over time, economic difficulties weaken control over the territory, and scavengers — people with their own goals and motives — begin to infiltrate the danger zone.

 Among the characters you can find people in respirators and masks, eccentric travelers, female survivors, a Beatles fan, and even a mutant in an exoskeleton. Like the characters in Tarkovsky's film - the Stalker, the Professor, and the Writer - each of them has their own reason for going to the Zone.

 The main task of the players is to reach the sarcophagus and penetrate inside before their opponents, within the set time. To do this, they will have to take risks, explore dangerous areas, and face various threats.

DOES ANYONE SEE THIS DOOR?

 To get inside the sarcophagus, the heroes must uncover two secrets of the Zone. They are hidden in underground structures known as Secret Places.

 On their turn, each player can perform two actions: move, explore a location, engage in combat, and perform other available actions. After that, participants draw event cards and apply their effects to the corresponding locations. At the end of the turn, the first scavenger draws a rumor card and activates its effect.

HE WHO DOESN'T TAKE A RISK WILL NOT FIND ARTIFACTS

 The game field takes participants to an infected and isolated area where resources and equipment are limited. That is why players need to monitor the condition of their equipment, repair it in a timely manner and buy new items. Rest is no less important, which helps reduce fatigue and restore health after injuries.

 Each scavenger has unique and basic skills, as well as their own starting equipment. Characteristics such as Awareness, Dexterity, and Intelligence affect the character's ability to avoid dangers and traps, resist mutants, and find artifacts created by anomalies.
