HOW TO PLAY

Every Gwent fan knows that the most important thing in a Gwent game is to find the right moment to act. You will start the game with personal decks, compiled according to the chosen faction, which have unique features and form a certain style of play. At the beginning of the first round, everyone takes ten cards into their hand and, if desired, can replace some of them - because sometimes the course of the duel depends on the initial cards in their hand. By the way, along with the duel, the tabletop version of Gwent has 6 modes, including now you can play solo and with a company of up to 5 players.

The battle lasts for a maximum of three rounds. In each round, you will take turns playing cards - combat or special cards with special effects. The battlefield is conventionally divided into three spaces: melee and ranged lines, and a siege weapon line. Part of your strategy will include considerations of where to place a particular card. There are cards that strengthen allies, destroy enemies, reduce the strength of the enemy row, or give unexpected advantages at the right moment. However, the most powerful resource is your ability to assess the situation and say pass in time, because each card played is a sacrifice that you will no longer be able to use in the next round.

The round is won by the player whose total strength on the field is greater after both players pass. But to finally win the game, you need to take two rounds out of three. And here's where the fun begins: you can win the first round at any cost, but if you put your entire army on it, you may not have anything left to play with in the next and third rounds. This fine line between a decisive attack and carefully calculated moves is the heart of Gwent. It's not always the one with the strongest cards who wins, but it's definitely the one who knows how to use them correctly.
