 Not a day goes by without a spice battle! We know you're as surprised as you can be, but face it, another game based on Herbert's hit novel about a desert planet, intrigue, rebels and fat worms the size of a small country house is here, we've just cracked it open for you to take a little look at!

 Asymmetric strategic board game "Dune. The War for Arrakis" pits the Houses of Atreides and Harkonnen against each other, their uncompromising leaders and all who support them. The events take place a year after House Harkonnen regained control of the planet by assault during the Siege of Arrakis. You will have to lead one of these two factions, or play in teams if there are three or four of you. When you make wise decisions, balancing between defending your own settlements, attacking enemy bases and depriving your opponent of resources, you have a good chance of victory... how do you like this proposal? It's great!


ATTRIDES OR HARKONNES?


 As we just said, this game is asymmetrical, where each faction will try to achieve their own goals.

 The Atreides, who survived the first prostrate attack, were not happy with the harsh rule of the Harkonnens, but all the trials only made them stronger. They achieved considerable success in the field of guerrilla warfare... what, if anything, was their alliance with the local population worth! Freemen willingly carry out combat missions, knowing every corner of Arrakis and relying on ancient prophecies. That is why you need to accumulate enough prediction points to win. Only in this way will you free the planet from cruelty and violence!

 The greatest achievement of any Harkonnen clan is to find and destroy the Fremen sich. The places where the Atreides and the Freemen hide should not exist on Arrakis! From the beginning of the game, the Harkonnens control the main inhabited areas of the desert planet, as well as the extraction of melange spices. The more spices you manage to collect, the better your relations with the ruling forces of the Empire (Pilots' Guild, Landsraad and DAPT) will be. So you will be very diligent and exterminate all the local population, because the Emperor himself and House Corrino are inclined to support you by sending their Sardaukar!


HOW TO PLAY


 The game "Dune: War for Arrakis" consists of a series of rounds that replace each other until one of the factions gains the upper hand.

 At the beginning of the round, each player takes 2 planning cards from their decks into their hand (1 from each deck). Also, the players must open three cards from the divination deck and place them next to the vodkas. Then the game continues in the following phases:


  • Transport placement is for Harkonnens only. The Harkonnen player should check the position of the lowest Empire marker on the "Spices must flow" space (this sneaky marker will block you from certain dice and actions for a round) and place their harvesters in the desert zones, and send the ornithopters and transporters into the air (Yee-bo, Atreidamus slippers!).
  • actions We throw the dice and place them in the corresponding cells on our tablets. This can be done simultaneously. Now we take turns, starting with the Atreides, and then starting with the Harkonnens, each player can place 1 Bene Gesserit token on the board.
  • Perils of the Desert - This phase is only available to the Atreides. Whoever plays them must place 1 wormmark token in all desert zones with a Harkonnen legion or a harvester (that's where we crunch them!). All such symbols on the field must now be flipped and their effects activated. In addition, you need to determine the effects of Coriolis storms by rolling the dice once for each zone.
  • Spice Gathering - Harkonnens can gather as many spices as there are surviving harvesters on the field: 1 point per desert, 2 points per deep desert. Remember that spices are currency? To leave the Empire marker on the Spices Must Flow space in place, it will cost 2 melange points, and to move the marker 1 line up, it will cost a full three points. Once per phase, you can also exchange 3 points of spice for 1 point of dominance (if special conditions are met). Keep in mind: if you don't give the required share of spices to the Empire, you will fall into the system of fines!
  • End of round. In this phase, the Atreides player checks the conditions of all open divination cards at the end of the round, fulfills all instructions on the cards for which he wants to receive resources, and moves up the corresponding divination markers. Did you meet the conditions on the secret goal card? - you immediately win! If not, you know where to go: we see the goal, we don't see obstacles! Finally, we prepare the game for the next round — we remove vehicles from the field, replace named leaders (if desired), return used leader cards to their places, check the number and discard extra planning cards from the hand, etc. We start a new round, knowing that we will definitely win in it, after all, it is so!
