DESCRIPTION OF EXPANSION COMBAT COMMANDER: BATTLE PACK #5 - FALL OF THE WEST

 Combat Commander: Battle Pack #5 - Fall of the West is the fifth themed collection of scenarios for use in the Combat Commander game series. The theme of this battle set shifts to the action in France, Belgium and Norway from late April to June 1940, looking at the critical moments of this short period when the forces of both sides tested each other. To reflect this, special scenario rules have been developed to allow flexibility in the hands of lesser allies (which has been demonstrated every time higher echelon intervention has been reduced). CC–Fall of the West contains twelve new card-printed scenarios as well as ten new maps.

 Special experimental AFV rules are presented in four scenarios where tanks face off against infantry in conditions that show that the doctrines, weapons and countermeasures were still in the early stages of development. While the unstoppable racing of tank companies across terrain remains a blitzkrieg staple, we found many instances of a more conventional level of engagement suitable for our attempt to capture an unusual element in the CC realm – TANKS!

 The new maps depict specific locations in France, Belgium, and Norway that have been identified and specifically verified (from the sky, on maps, and in text). The player learns the real names of the roads and other features of the area as a reminder of the reality of the events.
