DESCRIPTION OF BOARD GAME NATIONS


 The board game Nations is a card-based simulation of Civilization. You have to lead one of the nations (Romans, Egyptians, Chinese, Persians and Greeks) and go with it through the ages. In the game, you have to develop production and military power, these two indicators will allow your nation to feel comfortable. In addition, every successful nation needs a good level of knowledge, state stability and a sufficient population. Your nation is counting on you – lead it to prosperity and glory.


OPPORTUNITIES OF NATIONS


 Each player chooses a nation and receives a corresponding two-sided tablet. One side is the same for all tablets - we suggest using it to familiarize yourself with the game and in the first games. The second side reflects the characteristics of each nation and defines the initial conditions for the start.

 So, the player's tablet. The tablet shows what a nation can own and defines basic resources. We start the game with a set of resources (gold, grain, stone), victory points (you may have to lose them), population (it determines the number of our actions) and 5 constructed buildings (blue and red background). Also, our nation can choose one leader (orange background), conquer two colonies (green background), engage in the construction of a wonder of the world (brown background) - in the process of construction there can be only one miracle of light, after construction, you can start a new one.


CARD CIVILIZATION


 All buildings, events, military conflicts, armies, leaders, colonies and wonders are represented by maps. The progression process is represented by four epochs - this is reflected by the distribution of cards in decks and sequential entry into the game. Each round in the game, the civilization cards will be updated - offers are laid out on the tablet in three rows.

 The row determines the price at which you can buy a particular card. The cost of cards in the first row is 1 coin, in the second - 2, and in the third - 3. At the end of the round, unclaimed cards from the first and second rows leave the game, and the cards of the third row are moved to the first. The second and third rows are filled with new cards - thus replenishing the card market. The purchased card lands on the player's tablet and immediately affects the nation's performance.


PEOPLE


 The main source of resources are production facilities. Construction takes place resource only in case of activation - for this you will need population. Place one meeples on a production building and pay for its placement (usually a stone). The building does not restrict you from visiting, so you can send another meeple to the same building on your next turn. In the production phase, activated houses will bring resources and knowledge, while the number of honeypots will increase production proportionally.

 None of the civilizations can become successful without the development of military power. In the game you have to display wars, organize raids and capture colonies, for this you need an army - red cards. Military maps work similarly to production maps with one exception - the level of military power changes at the moment of placing a weapon on the map.


OTHER DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES


 Your nation can have a leader - he increases the level of one of the parameters or gives a certain ability. In the process of the game, the leader can be replaced by a new personality. Your nation can capture colonies and gain additional resources without involving the population. A certain level of a nation's military power would be required to capture a colony. If the conditions are met, the colony is placed on the player's tablet and produces resources during production. You will need architects and some time to build the Miracle. During your turn, you can choose one architect from the general offer and place a Miracle on the construction progress, while providing the construction stage with the necessary resources.


WAR AND EVENTS


 As mentioned, it is impossible without an army in the game. Therefore, you have to balance between the level of production and the maintenance of the army (red and blue cards are placed in the same area and limited to 5 pieces). The army, in addition to the main defensive function, can be sent on a raid (gray map) - the result will be production in the form of resources, knowledge or victory points. Your Army is the support and hope in wars. If you or another player has declared war, you must have the declared level of military strength by the end of the turn, otherwise the nation will suffer the consequences of war: loss of resources, population, victory points, etc. In addition to military battles, in each round there is an event that determines the consequences for those who failed to fulfill the condition or fell victim to the condition. An event card can also reward those who stand out. The draw of the event is followed by the hunger phase - this is the part of the game in which you need to feed the population.


THROUGH THE AGES


 At the beginning of the game, determine the length of the game and the level of difficulty. Develop your nation in all directions, because you get points at the end of the game for everything. The most successful nation will be determined by the sum of victory points. Regardless of the outcome, your nation's journey will not go unnoticed - at the end of the game you will discuss strategies, problems and achievements with your rivals.
