DESCRIPTION OF THE BOARD GAME THROUGH THE AGES


 The popularity of the first edition of this game was a good reason to start a new story! Before you is a fresh version of the board game Through the Ages: A New Story of Civilization , published in Ukrainian, where the game mechanics were refined, the design was changed and the dependence on military development was weakened. You hold the key to the development of your people from a small village to a civilized nation.


CIVILIZATION ON MAPS


 The board game "Through the Ages" belongs to card games. All events, buildings, great personalities, wonders of the world, colonies and actions are represented on game maps divided into several eras. Over time, your nation will evolve: changing eras will bring about changing leaders; new technologies will have to replace old ones; for effective development, it is necessary to change the state system; military development requires a constant infusion of resources and science points.


DESPOTISM IN THE VILLAGE


 Each player receives a personal tablet that contains all the necessary information about the state of your civilization: government system, built city buildings, level of development of agriculture and production, level of corruption, food consumption and loyalty of the nation to the government.

 Your modest nation begins its development from a small village in which despotism reigns. The state system determines the number of actions that can be taken during a turn. It is easy to guess the importance of a timely change in the state system: more opportunities - more actions - increasing the pace of development - more opportunities...


AND THE CENTURIES PASS BY...


 Each player, depending on the epoch, performs the actions available to him and passes the turn to the next player. During their turn, players choose cards from the proposed row (13 pieces) for action points. Each new move partially updates this row. In this way, the game moves from one era to another.

 The initial era A is limited in player actions and capabilities. This starting era allows players to prepare for the main three eras. Starting from Era I, players have access to all actions from resource production to declaring war. It is worth noting that military actions are recommended to be carried out thoughtfully and in a timely manner - maintaining an army is not a cheap pleasure, and every experienced commander knows that it is more difficult to advance than to maintain the defense. Which of the ways your civilization will go is up to you, but it must develop in different directions, otherwise your rivals will definitely take advantage of your weakness.


ECONOMY OF CIVILIZATION


 The goal of your civilization is superiority over others in cultural development. This will be a special factor in determining the winner. To display your cultural development, a track is used, on which the rating of all civilizations is marked: state and growth. A similar track is used to display scientific potential and accumulated science points. All civilization management information is placed on a personal tablet. To extract resources and provisions, it is necessary to send workers to work in a mine or on a farm - moving from the zone of idle workers. If there are no free workers, it is necessary to attract the population - we move the cubes from the population track to the plot of unemployed workers.

 The population involved in the work needs an increase in the level of loyalty (the mood of the nation), as well as additional food costs. To cover food costs, you need to get food from farms and pay in the required amount. Similarly, resources for building maps and wonders of the world are obtained and supplied. If the loyalty of the population is not ensured, expect an uprising. Be prepared to lose resources as a result of corruption, if you do not use them, but accumulate them for some purpose.


AGGRESSION, LEADERS, EVENTS


 Each civilization has its own path, and this path is determined by how it develops, which leaders the power rests on, how certain events are experienced, how relations with neighbors and civilization's readiness for aggression take place... Leaders contribute to certain areas of development and can become a good support in your strategy.

 But leaders are not eternal and others will definitely take their place. Be prepared for the various twists that the game will throw at you through the event cards. The ability to adapt to any situation is a great step towards winning the game. But be sure that your successes will always be accompanied by aggression from other nations. Likewise, always consider the possibility of another player declaring war on you...
