DESCRIPTION OF EXPANSION 7 WONDER: LEADERS

 Add the Leaders expansion to the 7 Wonders board game, and you'll attract historical characters to your side, who will help your civilization find new ways to develop and give you additional ways to beat the competition!

MAIN INNOVATION

• 36 leader cards with special abilities. The effects of some of them resemble the effects of guilds (purple cards), and some are completely unique. In addition, the Leaders add-on includes:
  
• New guild cards (some of them are tied to leader cards).
• Additional money tokens (denomination of 6).
• Courtesan Token (used with the Courtesan Guild).
• The map and field for the new civilization is Rome (its special features are also related to leader cards).

CHANGES IN THE RULES

• All players start with 6 coins instead of 3.
• A new stage is added in the preparation for the game, when the leader cards are distributed (absolutely in the style of 7 Wonders: players are given 4 leader cards each, the player keeps 1 for himself, the rest is passed around - and so on, until all the cards are dealt).
• At the beginning of each era, a leader recruitment phase is added, where the participant plays a leader card (essentially similar to normal building cards - the leader card can also be discarded for three coins or used to build a wonder of the world). Unlike normal cards, the payment for hiring leaders is made only with money, not with resources. As a result, in 3 days, players have the opportunity to play 3 leader cards from the 4 available in their hands - 1 leader card will not be used.

 The authors of the expansion claim that 7 Wonders: Leaders "adds strategy to the game", and you can agree with this - the choice of leaders takes place at the very beginning of the game, which forces you to think about the further strategy of the development of your civilization at an early stage. At the same time, other players have only partial information about which leaders are in the game, and even less data about who has which leaders in their hands, which adds intrigue to the game. Leaders can have a noticeable (though rarely critical) influence on strategy, the effect of some cards is applied only at the end of the game, others bring immediate benefits (in the spirit of "get money immediately"). For example, Aristotle gives all science sets 3 points at the end of the game, which allows you to increase the gap if you get "lucky" with science cards, and Archimedes gives a discount for building science cards. Skillfully using both leaders, you can make a good emphasis on the development of science. There are leaders who give victory points for one or another type of cards, there are leaders who give military power ... All this sets new points of reference for choosing a strategy, you can not just act according to the principle "which cards will come, then I will develop them" , and try to plan your game in advance (of course, doing it flexibly, because if you were going to develop science, and judging by the 1st day, all the other players did it - maybe you should change your strategy, because there will not be enough science cards for everyone).

 A few more words about the other components of the extension. Add the civilization of the Romans is strongly tied to the use of leader cards: side A, for example, allows you to hire leaders for free, and on side B, a discount of 1 coin will be extended to the player's neighbors! New guilds add diversity and are also mostly focused on leaders - what is worth is the Guild of Courtesans, with the help of which you can "seduce" a neighboring leader and take advantage of his bonuses (for this, the game even has a special cute Courtesan token :)

 7 Wonders Leaders (7 Wonders Leaders) is an excellent expansion that refreshes the game and adds "strategy", while the complexity and duration of the game increases minimally. There is a certain feeling of a "secret goal" - when building their civilization, players keep in mind the available leaders "up their sleeve" (sometimes by playing the "right" leader in time, you can turn the situation in your favor). In general, the Leader add-on can be safely recommended to all fans of the 7 Wonders board game, especially to those who have already spent more than one weekend playing it ;)
