DESCRIPTION OF THE BOARD GAME WAR OF THE RING

 The great war for sovereignty lasted more than one thousand years. The one in whose possession the Ring was, ruled over all living things, but was forced to serve a terrible evil. The Ring once belonged to Sauron, the dark lord of Middle-earth, granting its owner incredible power and strength, but he lost it. And now Sauron wanted to reunite with the ring, and at the same time regain his former power and authority over Middle-earth.

HOW IS THE GAME GOING?

 When playing with two players, one of the participants will take charge of the Free Peoples and the Fellowship of the Ring, and the other will take charge of Sauron's army and his henchmen. In a three-person game, two participants will be on the side of evil: the first - will play for the Dark Lord, the second - for his supporters. Playing four, the control over the forces of evil remains the same, and two participants now play for the Free Peoples: the first - for the elves and warriors of Gondor, the second - for the Northmen, dwarves and riders of Rohan. Both players share leadership of the Fellowship of the Ring.

 The game mechanics of War of the Ring are built on a mixture of cold calculation and luck. It is based on action cubes: blue for free peoples and red for the forces of Darkness. The values on the edges that will fall out determine the current actions: recruiting troops, moving the army or individual characters, moving the Fellowship of the Ring, military actions, drawing event cards, etc. Both the blue and red sets contain unique "jokers": for the free peoples, it is the Will of the West, which allows you to perform any action or summon a character, for the Darkness - the Eye, which monitors the Ring. The combat system also uses dice, but allows you to correct bad values with troop leaders, characters, and cards.

 The combat part in the game War of the Ring also takes place on dice. The values 5 and 6 have fallen - it is considered a successful attack, as a result of which the enemy side suffers defeat or loss. However, even these seemingly random values can be influenced: troop leaders have the right to roll the dice, and troops occupying defensive positions such as ruins or fortresses receive roll bonuses. Each event card is endowed with a special property that can affect the outcome of the battle. In addition, many cards are transferred to the action party according to the plot of the saga of the Fellowship of the Ring, reflecting the events that were really discussed, giving alternative options for the development of the plot.

HOW TO WIN?

 The victory condition depends on the chosen character: Sauron needs to subjugate the Free Peoples to his will to win, and they in turn need to capture the main fortress of their enemy. However, the free peoples will win even if the Keepers of the Ring manage to reach Fatal Mountain and destroy the Ring. The War of the Ring board game continues until one side fulfills its victory condition.
