DESCRIPTION OF BOARD GAME SEAFALL
The rough sea welcomes adventurers. The ship moored to the pier has been waiting for its captain for a long time, who will raise the sails and go on sea conquests. The SeaFall board game is a 4X game based on the popular Legacy mechanics. Players have to live the story of their ship and achieve victory.
WHAT IS SEAFALL
First of all, this is a large-scale adventure on Legacy mechanics. This means that players start the game with a great limitation of possibilities: both territorial and functional. At the very beginning, not much is available and known to the players. New opportunities, territories and rules will be available to players only as they progress through the game. Everything that will happen in the first rounds will in one way or another affect the following ones. There are hidden boxes (6 pieces) in the game - this is the unpredictable part of the game. If players reach certain conditions, they need to open a secret box, the content of which complements the game, and sometimes even changes it.
COMPARISON WITH PANDEMIC: LEGACY
It turns out that Pandemic: Legacy, which made such a splash in 2015, is becoming a benchmark for comparison. You can look for similarities between the two games, but in general they are completely different games: the cooperative mode and playing for yourself in SeaFall is the main difference. In Pandemic, you first see the map on which the events unfold, in SeaFall it has to be explored and developed, so the development in the game will be different for each company. Unlike Pandemic, SeaFall is not tied to a clear line of development - secret boxes are not opened after reaching a certain round, but when certain conditions are met. This allows players to manage the legacy process themselves.
DEVELOPMENT
At the very beginning of your sea adventure, we recommend going through the "Prologue" - these are shortened rounds that will not cause changes to the starting conditions and will not give points. Despite the lack of gameplay significance, the "Prologue" is important for players to understand all possible actions in the game.
The player's chosen ship will slow down to conquer the endless sea, but this is only the first step. Start with your captain's name and the name of the vessel - "what you call the yacht, so it will sail" (c).
Throughout the game, players have to make decisions that will determine the attitude towards their team. Their political decisions can ensure a comfortable existence, but it is always worth remembering that strength and power are no less important in the unpredictable world of sea adventures.
WHO IS THE GAME FOR?
The SeaFall board game is recommended for all fans of Legacy mechanics. If you like the sea theme, you like 4X games, you don't mind long rounds, and most importantly, you have company to go through the whole adventure, which is about 15 games, then the game deserves your attention. The game has a lot of text that immerses the players in the sea atmosphere. The game requires patience and experience from players and will be difficult for beginners.
