DESCRIPTION OF EXPANSION TICKET TO RIDE: THE HEART OF AFRICA

 Ticket to Ride: The Heart of Africa is another addition to the basic Ticket to Ride or Ticket to Ride: Europe board games. As you may have guessed, in this add-on, players will go on an exciting journey across the African continent. Endless deserts and savannahs, impenetrable jungles and forests, as well as sharp rocks and mountains await you. Rail races connect the largest cities in Africa, all you have to do is buy a train ticket and go on a journey.

 Like any other addition in the Ticket to Ride series, Heart of Africa has its own unique features in the rules, which we will talk about a little below. WARNING! This description is intended for people who are already familiar with the basic rules of the game.

DOUBLE RACE

 The African map is designed for 2-5 players. Moreover, when playing with 4-5 people, double races can be played in full, and when playing with up to 4 participants - only one part of it.

 In other words, if the player took one part of the double race, then the second part can no longer be taken.

LOCATION MAPS

 The main feature of the Ticket to Ride: The Heart of Africa expansion is the terrain maps. The 45 terrain maps are divided into three types:

• Jungles and forests (purple, blue and green races)
• Deserts and savannas (yellow, orange and red races)
• Mountains and rocks (white, gray and black races).

 At the beginning of the game, in addition to wagon cards and tickets, players each receive one map of the area, which is laid face up in front of them. Another deck of terrain cards is shuffled and placed next to the field, and the top two are revealed in a row.

 During his turn, the player can take 2 wagon cards in his hand, or instead 2 terrain cards, if desired, you can combine - one wagon, one terrain. You can take it at random from the deck, and you can take it open - from a row. In general, the rules of card selection are exactly the same as in the base game, just another deck has been added. The locomotive rule works exactly as well: take the locomotive and finish the move.

 The only thing to note is that the wagon cards go into the player's hand, and the terrain cards are laid face up in front of him.

HOW TO USE LOCATION MAPS

 During the construction of the race, the player can additionally lay out terrain cards and double the current points for the race. These actions must comply with two rules:

• Terrain cards played must match the color of the race.
• A player must have no fewer cards of a given terrain type than other players.

 The number of terrain cards that must be dropped depends on the length of the race. For example, to double the result of a race with a length of up to 3 cars, it is enough to discard only one terrain card.

 By the way, the map of the locomotive can replace any map of the car and the terrain.

WENT TO MADAGASCAR!

 Another small feature of the African map is the presence on it of the island of Madagascar, on which two cities are located at once.

 If the train ticket map connects mainland Africa with Madagascar, then the player only needs to bring his cars to one of the two cities.

 At the end of the game, the player who completed the most tasks receives a 10-point bonus.

 To play The Heart of Africa add-on, you will need sets of plastic wagons and colored wagon maps. You can take them from any base version of the game: Ticket to Ride or Ticket to Ride: Europe .
